Landscapes in Lappeenranta are occupied mostly by the lake Saimaa, but on the other side of the town can be found great forested area with many interesting trails like this loop to Karhusjärvi and back. This 23km loop consists of an official marked trail in the beginning, which will take you to the lake Karhusjärvi (although this slight detour isn't included on our trail map) and journey back is mixed up from all sorts of singletracks along the way and gravel roads connecting them.
There's a possibility to grill a sausage at Hämmäauteensuo but also at Karhusjärvi if you make the detour. Karhusjärvi also offers a possibility for over night stay if you book the cottage from Saimaan Latu.
Parking is no issue as the trails start very near the 24/7 gas station Viipurinportti where you can park for free.
